Welcome to the World Health Assembly!
I am your President, Jayden B. , a junior at Korea International School; I am excited to meet you all at SEOMUN XXVIII.
At the World Health Assembly (WHA), there will be a prioritization in this committee on keeping the world safe and serving the vulnerable, ensuring everyone can attain healthcare. In this time of political turmoil and rapidly advancing technology, delegates must approach issues in a multifaceted way, understanding global conflicts at several scales. Following the conference theme of “Voices of Tomorrow”, it is expected that diplomatic decorum to be maintained. Without standards of behavior and etiquette, order and discussion are void of meaning.
In this iteration of SEOMUN, the WHA will be tackling three agendas:
Strengthening international corporations to combat Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in crisis-affected regions
Harnessing the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in revolutionizing both global healthcare systems and rapid pandemic responses
Ensuring accessible and culturally inclusive healthcare for Indigenous people in LEDCs
Each topic is further explicated in their respective chair report.
As a personal note, the WHA has remained my favorite committee in MUN by far, being the committee for 5 of my 10 conferences. SEOMUN was my first MUN experience—being such a large conference, it is typical for this committee to be particularly competitive. For this reason, expect diplomacy to be difficult. Stand for your views, and create a compromise when possible.
I am honored to serve again as chair of such a crucial committee, and I wish to provide the best MUN experience possible.
So excited to see you all in October!
