Dear Delegates,
Welcome to General Assembly 1, where science, security, and diplomacy are at crossroads. I’m thrilled to welcome you to this year’s conference, and even more excited to serve as your President. Whether this is your first MUN or your fifteenth, I hope GA1 will challenge your thinking, spark new friendships, and inspire creative solutions to some of the most complex global issues of our time.
My own journey with MUN began with a lack of knowledge over procedures and scribbled speeches. But over time, I found my voice in MUN, where diplomacy gave me the chance to express my passion and knowledge through debate and resolutions. From fierce debates on nuclear wart to midnight drafting sessions, MUN has taught me not only how to lead, but how to listen. And now, I have the honor of creating that same space for you, where bold yet creative ideas are welcomed, collaboration is key, and every delegate gets a chance to shine.
This year’s GA1 agenda tackles the cutting edge of international security: the dual-use dilemma in synthetic biology, the threat of nuclear escalation through regional conflicts, and the rising risks of cyberwarfare and algorithmic bias in AI security. These aren’t just topics for debate because they are problems world leaders have presented today. I encourage you to explore not just the dangers, but the opportunities for regulation, cooperation, and innovation to be the best leaders of tomorrow.
As you prepare and aim for awards, remember that the strongest delegates are not always the loudest, but the most thoughtful. Be bold, be curious, and most importantly be kind. Because I hope the experiences you savored through this MUN conference will brighten you just as mines did. I look forward to an engaging, intelligent, and unforgettable weekend with all of you.
Warm regards,
Nyan Lin K.
President, General Assembly 1
