Dear Delegates of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees,

My name is Jian Hong, a current senior at Seoul International School, and I am honored to serve as your President of the UNHCR at the 28th iteration of SEOMUN. Alongside me will be my Assistant President, Harumi U. and Deputy Assistant President, Doreen P. We are beyond excited for the upcoming conference, as it means that we will be able to meet you all.

The UNHCR is a United Nations body whose mission is to protect refugees, asylum-seekers, and stateless people worldwide. Founded in 1950, it fights for the safety away from home for everyone. Under SEOMUN XXVIII’s theme this year of “Voices of Tomorrow,” we will cover the agendas of maternal and child healthcare systems in Conflict Zone refugee camps, equitable access to education and vocational training for refugees, and human trafficking and exploitation in refugee camps and migration routes.

Voices of tomorrow apply not just for how we cultivate more voices through the protections established in our agendas, but also for the mindset delegates grow in the process.

MUN has served an irreplaceable role in the course of our high school careers; as I prepare to attend my last SEOMUN, it is of my sincere wishes that all delegates will be able to experience what we have.

Best Regards,

Jian H.

President of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees
