PRESIDEnt

THE PRESIDENT’s LEtter

liam y.

DEputy assistant president

Dear Delegates of the Security Council,

My name is Carson P. , a senior at Seoul International School, and it is my honor to serve as the President of the Security Council at the 28th iteration of Seoul Model United Nations. Helping me lead this committee will be Serika S. , my Assistant President, and Liam Y. , your Deputy Assistant President.

In the context of the Security Council, this year’s theme, the voices of tomorrow, reflects the growing importance of the new generation in influencing international diplomacy and maintaining global security. I invite you, delegates, to explore the complex world of international relations in areas relevant to protecting the sanctity of peace, promoting multilateral cooperation, and addressing the root causes of global conflict.

Often regarded as one of the most challenging and intense committees in all of Model United Nations, the Security Council is a committee centered around maintaining international peace and security. First established in 1945 following the end of World War II, the Security Council has dealt with many international issues ranging from the Korean War to nuclear proliferation and the Ukraine Crisis in the present day.

This year, delegates will be invited to discuss three different agendas.

Addressing the Indo-Pakistani Conflict

Addressing the South China Sea Dispute

Addressing the Escalation of the Guyana–Venezuela Border Dispute

Having been in the Security Council for every conference since the start of my MUN journey in 2022, I’ve come to deeply appreciate the unique dynamics and challenges offered by this committee. Whether you have veto power or not, the Security Council provides a memorable experience and ensures a fulfilling conference, even for those who are new to MUN.

I look forward to having a meaningful conference with you delegates. Please feel free to contact me for any inquiries regarding the agendas.

Warmest regards,

Carson P.

President of the Security Council

Seoul International School ‘26
