My name is Kadyn J. , and it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 28th iteration of SEOMUN. I am very honored and excited to be serving as the president of General Assembly 2, and I look forward to hearing the diverse and innovative ideas presented by each and every one of the delegates over the course of this year’s conference.

SEOMUN is a very meaningful conference to me because it is the first conference I have ever attended, back when I was in 9th grade. I can still remember being seated in the assembly hall 30 minutes before the conference with my friends, studying the ROP. Before heading to our individual committees, they tested me on some of the MUN terminology, and I did not know a single one. I was very terrified, very anxious, and all I wanted to do was just quit. But looking back, it really was no big deal – all my failed amendments, embarrassingly short speeches, and all the other things that seem daunting on the surface. Leaving the conference, the only regret that I had was not that I attended this conference in the first place, but that I didn’t try harder.

I hope all of you do not make the same mistake that I did today last year, and sincerely try your best not only to achieve the awards but also to learn and enjoy MUN. I look forward to seeing how each and every one of you contributes to the committee, whether you’re completely new to this or have more experience than others. I hope this conference will be one that ignites your passion and pushes you forward on your MUN journey.
