Esteemed delegates of the UNDP,

My name is Minju C. , and it is my deepest honor and pleasure to welcome you to the United Nations Development Programme at SEOMUN XXVIII. As we gather for this year’s conference, it is important to reflect on the broader global context in which we stand today. While the past few decades have witnessed remarkable progress, this development has also been accompanied by a widening divide between the developed and developing worlds. This widening disparity is especially evident in the varying levels of access to clean water and energy, sustainable infrastructure, and protection from violence.

It is our responsibility at the UNDP to address these disparities by promoting a more sustainable and equitable growth in communities that need it the most, through our voices of tomorrow. I hope that this year’s SEOMUN empowers UNDP delegates to amplify your voices advocating for change as the committee tackles the issues of economic development in small island countries, the impact of an aging society in middle-income countries, and balancing human development standards and cultural preservation.

Throughout my 5 years of MUN journey, I have learned the power of a diplomatic voice. Standing on the podium in front of fellow delegates instilled in me the passion to speak for cooperation, negotiation, and solution. Hence, at the UNDP, I hope you also learn the great power that lies in the words you choose to speak and the voices you choose to make in resolutions, amendments, and speeches. Your voices of tomorrow will transcend the committee room and bring notable changes to a world that is striving to foster sustainable development across the globe. On behalf of the chairs, I sincerely hope to meet you all soon at the many fruitful debates that will be held in the UNDP.

Warmest,

Minju C.

President of the UNDP
